I am a first-year art student at the Cooper Union. In my years before attending Cooper, my background in art consisted mostly of painting and drawing. During the spring and summer before starting my first semester, I began creating zines pertaining to my Brazilian and queer cultures. Creating zines opened me up to the world of design, introducing me to visual languages, typography, and concepts for communication.
In Cooper Union, I am currently taking studio classes in basic drawing, color, 2-dimensional design, and 3-dimensional design. I hope to be able to take classes in graphic design, typography, film and video, sound, painting, and sculpture. While I would like to work in a career in fine arts, I see myself doing commercial/design work, including website/book/magazine design, video design, or working on TV/movie production.
