Yeji Kim

Hometown: Born in Seoul, South Korea but currently in Abington, PA
Recipient: 2018-2019 school year
Year of Graduation: 2022

I’m Yeji and I am currently in my first year in the School of Art at The Cooper Union. I was born in Seoul, South Korea but have traveled and lived in various other places, such as the Philippines, Michigan, and Ohio, until arriving to Abington, PA before moving to New York City to attend college. I primarily worked with painting and drawing in the past, but classes here at Cooper has challenged me to branch out and experiment with wood, metal, bookbinding, design, and many more.
Although I am not sure of what the future holds in terms of practicing art, I hope to explore different mediums and experiment with them. I am especially excited to combine graphic design, bookmaking, and publications in conjunction to a variety of mediums, such as drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and many more as I continue my studies at the Cooper Union.
