I started at Cooper Union this year, as a freshman. I had spent a gap year taking various art classes and applying to different colleges. Until then, my artistic ventures had never gotten to be at the top of my list of priorities, even though both of my parents are artists, the majority of my family have careers in creative fields, and 3 family members have attended Cooper Union themselves.
While there is specific subject matter that interests me, such as my own dreams, I haven’t yet found a medium I prefer working through these ideas with. In any case, I don’t have a real desire to choose one yet. That was one of the reasons I chose Cooper; their interdisciplinary curriculum keeps me from having to choose and be bound to a specific area. This perfectly suits the desire I have to be trained in every single area of art that I can be.
